Excitement Builds and the Journey Begins

The day has finally arrived after six long months of planning and organising week after week. The night before is slightly chaotic as some pre-flight nerves set in. After packing and unpacking my suitcase I begin to question why I ever decided it would be a good idea to commit to a suitcase full of stuff for six months. It’s not a long time, but it isn’t a short time either. It probably doesn’t help that Australia is so far from anywhere, at this point it will be a 23 hour + journey.

In some ways I feel I should be more nervous, but having never undertaken long distance travel like this, it’s difficult to know what to expect. What I can say though, it is time to enjoy where all the preparation has taken me.

In the coming months I’ll be posting regularly on the blog about my travels, sharing writing, photos and stories as I go. I decided it would be a good way to document the trip for myself, friends and family. I’ve had a few people tell me before departure that they are hoping to live vicariously through my trip, so this is for you. I hope I do all your European dreams justice! I’m doing all the hard work for you by braving the English winter, so enjoy reading from the comfort of your own home.

I’ll be adding a few more features to the blog in the coming weeks, so check back often. My next post will be from the other side of the world.

Till next time!
